The team led by Prof. Tomasz Ciesielski has secured funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the National Program for the Development of Humanities in the “National Heritage” module for the project “The Polish Succession War 1733-1735: Military Actions – Source Edition” (project number: NPRH/DN/SP/0213/2023/12). The funding amount for the research, which will be conducted from 2024 to 2029, is 656,352 PLN.
The research team consists of:
– Prof. Tomasz Ciesielski (University of Opole) – Team leader
– Prof. Mariusz Sawicki (University of Opole)
– MA Adam Wołoszyn (University of Opole)
– PhD Grzegorz Glabisz (Department of History, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań)
The main objective of the project is to prepare for publication and promote, in an open-access format, an edition of sources dedicated to military actions during the Polish Succession War of 1733-1735. The Polish Succession War was part of the political and military rivalry among European powers in the 18th century and is linked to a series of succession conflicts characteristic of that era, including the War of the Spanish Succession, the War of the Austrian Succession, and the War of the Bavarian Succession. The research team’s focus will be on narrative, epistolary, and press sources that depict the course of military actions (of Polish, Saxon, and Russian provenance, as well as selected Western European states).
